soge.dk makes public Danish registers easier to search and read. The data come from state registers. We are not their source, and we do not change or delete what the registers contain.
- Company and person data come from CVR (Danish Business Authority), vehicle data from the Motor Register (Danish Motor Vehicle Agency) and addresses from the Danish Address Register.
- We show the data as they stand in the register. Errors are corrected at the source on virk.dk — the correction then shows here too.
- What CVR does not publish, we do not show either: protected addresses, beneficial owners and CPR numbers.
- Marketing protection is marked next to the contact details: they may be seen, but not used for marketing.
- LynBro ApS is the controller of the display and relies on legitimate interest. The Danish Data Protection Agency has accepted the same model for another CVR service.
1. Where does the data come from?
| Data | Source (register owner) | Correct it at |
|---|---|---|
| Companies, production units, owners, management, board, founders, contact details, industry, status, marketing protection | Central Business Register (CVR) — Danish Business Authority | virk.dk |
| Financial figures | Published annual reports — Danish Business Authority | The company / virk.dk |
| Vehicles: make, model, technical data, registration, inspection, insurer | Danish Motor Register (DMR) — Danish Motor Vehicle Agency | Motor Vehicle Agency / inspection station |
| Addresses and map position | Danish Address Register (DAR) — Agency for Climate Data; maps from OpenStreetMap/CARTO | Your municipality |
| Phone lookup | Numbers registered on companies in CVR + the Danish numbering plan (Danish Energy Agency) + user reports via nummeropslag.dk (LynBro ApS) | CVR: virk.dk |
2. Who owns and manages the data?
The registers belong to the state. CVR is kept by the Danish Business Authority under the Danish CVR Act, the Motor Register by the Danish Motor Vehicle Agency, and the Address Register by the Agency for Climate Data. The authorities decide what the registers contain, who may change them and which data are public.
The data are made freely available for re-use. Under the CVR executive order (no. 1243 of 29/08/2022, § 16) anyone who has received CVR data may use and pass them on. Company data are also designated a high-value dataset in the EU Open Data Directive (2019/1024).
3. We do not change or delete register data
We show the data as they stand in the register and do not correct them ourselves. Public data are only worth something if they are the same everywhere: if we changed who is listed as owner or director, our page would be wrong for everyone else — and the change would never reach the register. Corrections are therefore made at the source, with the Danish Business Authority on virk.dk.
We do not keep our own copy of CVR. Pages are built from CVR when shown and only cached briefly for speed — a correction in CVR normally shows here within a day. The only data we store are those a company adds to its own profile with us.
4. What CVR publishes — and what it does not
- Names of participants, founders, owners and members of management are published in CVR at all times, for active and ceased companies alike (CVR Act § 18(3)).
- Addresses of participants are published in CVR for 5 years after the role ends, and not where address protection is registered (§ 18(4)). We do not show private addresses of people at all — only the company's registered address.
- Beneficial owners (reelle ejere) have not been public since 1 September 2025 and are not shown.
- CPR numbers are not published and never shown.
- Marketing protection (CVR Act § 19) protects against marketing, not against the data being seen. The contact details are therefore shown, with a clear note next to them that they may not be used for marketing. The flag is passed on in our export and API.
- Ceased companies are kept in CVR and shown here with the status ceased.
5. Our role and legal basis
Controllership. The Danish Business Authority is the controller of CVR. LynBro ApS (CVR 46321499) is an independent controller of the display on soge.dk.
Legal basis. We process the data on the basis of legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)): making it easy to see who is behind a company, check a business partner, protect against fraud and know a car's history before buying it — the same reasons the registers are public. The data are published by law and concern the person's business role, and we show neither CPR numbers, nor sensitive data, nor vehicle owners.
Notification. We do not notify every person in the registers individually; for data that are already public that would involve a disproportionate effort (GDPR art. 14(5)(b)). Instead, the processing is described here and in our privacy policy.
6. What have the Danish DPA and the EU Court said?
- Danish Data Protection Agency, decision of 13 August 2018 (j.nr. 2018-31-0208, Lasso X): a service showing CVR data on who owns and runs Danish companies is a controller and may process the data on the basis of legitimate interest. The complainant's objection to being findable by name was not upheld, and the Agency found no grounds for criticism.
- CJEU, C-398/15 Manni (9 March 2017): there is no general right to have one's personal data erased from a public companies register — not even after the company has been dissolved. Publicity ensures legal certainty and protects third parties.
- The right to erasure is not absolute (GDPR art. 17(3)): among other things it does not apply where processing is necessary for exercising freedom of expression and information.
7. Your rights
- Wrong data: correct it at the source — CVR on virk.dk, vehicles at the Motor Vehicle Agency, addresses at your municipality. soge.dk then shows the corrected data.
- Questions about our display: write to privacy@lynbro.dk or use the form.
- Access (GDPR art. 15): you can always find out which data we process about you.
- Deadline: all requests are answered within one month. It is free.
- Complaint: if you disagree with our answer, you can complain to Datatilsynet.
8. Frequently asked questions
Why am I on soge.dk?
Because you are registered in the Central Business Register (CVR) — for example as the holder of a sole proprietorship, an owner, director, founder or board member. CVR is public by law precisely so that anyone can see who is behind a company. We show the data as CVR holds them, and only in connection with your role in a company.
Where did you get my data?
From CVR, kept by the Danish Business Authority. We do not collect the data from you, we do not buy them from others, and we are not their source.
My data is wrong — can you correct it?
We show the data as they stand in the register and do not correct them ourselves. Correct them at the source, with the Danish Business Authority on virk.dk. Once the correction is registered in CVR it appears on soge.dk too — pages are refreshed from CVR when shown, and a correction normally shows within a day.
My name should be hidden.
Under § 18(3) of the Danish CVR Act, the names of participants, founders, owners and members of management are published in CVR at all times — for active and ceased companies alike. We do not change or delete data the register contains. Any change has to be made with the Danish Business Authority.
My address should be hidden.
We do not show the private addresses of people registered in CVR. The address shown with a company is the company's registered address. CVR itself publishes participants' addresses for 5 years after the role ends, and not at all where address protection is registered (§ 18(4) of the CVR Act). Address protection in the CPR register does not cover a company address — you can register a different company address on virk.dk.
My company has closed but is still shown.
CVR keeps data on ceased companies because creditors, authorities and business partners need the history. That is why they are shown here too, with the status ceased.
My data shows up in Google.
Google indexes public pages, ours included. When the data change in CVR our page is updated, and Google picks up the change on its next visit. To have a result removed from Google itself, contact Google, which decides under its own rules.
What does reklamebeskyttelse (marketing protection) mean?
A company can opt out of marketing approaches in CVR. It protects against marketing, not against the data being seen. We therefore show the contact details and mark clearly next to them that they may not be used for marketing (§ 19 of the CVR Act). The flag is passed on in our export and API.
Do you show who owns a car?
No. We show data about the vehicle itself from the Motor Register, not the name or address of its owner or user.
What do you store about me?
We do not keep our own copy of CVR. Pages are built from CVR when shown and only cached briefly for speed. The only data we store are those a company adds to its own profile with us. Besides that there are ordinary server and security logs. You can always request access (GDPR art. 15).
How fast do you answer?
All requests for access, objection and erasure are answered within one month. It is free.
How do I complain?
If you disagree with our answer, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet), Carl Jacobsens Vej 35, 2500 Valby, dt@datatilsynet.dk.
